My journey to facilitating training

Hi, I’m Johannah Ashley, I have been practicing acupuncture for 21 years in Castlemaine. SIx years ago my passion for Chinese medicine was reignited. After asking the universe to send me a teacher, I won a ticket to Ann Cecil-Sterman’s Sinews Seminar. It was at that seminar that it became clear to me that classical acupuncture was what I had been looking for, yearning for, hoping to learn and practice all along.

Hi, I’m Johannah Ashley, I have been practicing acupuncture for 21 years in Castlemaine. After 15 years of working as an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner I had become disheartened. I had this distinct feeling that I was circling around my patients’ problems, when what I wanted to do was break through and create more lasting change. I knew in my gut that our medicine could do that, but I also knew I didn’t have the tools or knowledge.

I had reached a point where I was thinking of stopping practice altogether.

Then six years ago I asked the universe to send me a teacher, and that’s when I found Ann Cecil-Sterman and attended her Sinews Seminar. It was at that seminar that it became clear to me that classical acupuncture was what I had been looking for, yearning, and seeking since the beginning. My passion for Chinese medicine was reignited.

After Ann’s seminar, I went straight into the clinic the following day and started to use the sinew channels.  It was like being launched back in time to that feeling of awe I got in first year Uni where your mind and heart are blown wide open with inspiration and fascination.

I felt through the sinew channels I had finally met the energetic medicine I had always expected to find.

My reignited passion led me to fly to New York twice to continue to learn more from Ann and incorporate more of the Complement Channels into my acupuncture practice. I have spent the last 6 years immersed in online trainings and mentorships, steadily learning and integrating.

After attending Sean Tuten’s seminars in Melbourne and in Sydney in 2019, Lois Nethery, Ada Sobieszczuk and I decided to nurture and cultivate a supportive community of practitioners and students here in Australia by creating a Facebook group for practitioners.  From this collective of students and practitioners the Study Groups were born and out of these groups, I began facilitating other workshops that not only taught some basic theory, but also gave people hands on experience and built confidence in Complement Channel practice.

I absolutely love sharing, learning, and practicing these Complement Channels! They bring such profound change to people. Switching my practice over to this classical approach has created so much growth in my business. These treatments are reliable, they do what they say they will do! I have seen clients health outcomes radically change which in-turn generates very positive word of mouth. I would love to support you in your learning of these channels, and receive these great outcomes for your clients.

My utopian world is a place where we all feel connected and whole within ourselves, where as a community we embrace, give voice and are honest about our vulnerability. Where we are embodied, present and have the skills to feel and process our emotions gently and easily. Where we rise up as humans to be brave, real and authentic. I believe this medicine has the power to make this ideal future a reality, pretty exciting right?!
