About Me

Hi, my name is Johannah and I have been practising acupuncture for over twenty years now. I came to Chinese medicine quite young, in fact I started studying Acupuncture when I was nineteen years old. I was very lucky to just know in my gut that Chinese medicine is what I would be practicing my whole life.

Around seven years ago I discovered Classical Acupuncture through the teachings of Ann Cecil-Sterman. I had become disheartened with practice. I wanted to make more profound change for my patients. I felt as if my current treatments where circling around the perimeter of their issues and I wanted to be able to make deeper impact into the root cause of their conditions and produce more lasting results.

It was then that I sent out a plea to the universe to send me a teacher and lo and behold I won a ticket to Ann Cecil-Sterman’s Sinews Seminar. I had never heard of her before and went along simply for free Professional Development. But Ann was indeed the teacher I had asked to find, and learning from her has radically changed my practice and improved my treatment outcomes.

I went on to travel to New York twice and to New Mexico to continue my learning from Ann.

Classical Acupuncture is now my modality. It involves treating four other sets of channel systems to what we currently commonly treat since the Cultural Revolution. These channels are called the Complement Channels. These other channels are the Sinews, Luo’s, Divergents and Eight Extraordinary Meridians. These channels are where the body will store different kinds of pathology to keep the Primary channels (which connect to our internal organs) free of disease. Treating the Complement Channels means we go straight to where the pathology is and treat at the root of the imbalance. Treating the place where we are most stuck or overwhelmed.

These types of treatments are very helpful for treating chronic, degenerative diseases, including autoimmune disorders, gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis, PCOS, fibroids. Also conditions such as chronic sinus, tonsillitis, asthma, IBS, Crohn’s and mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, nervous system dis-regulation from trauma etc.
